Intrauterine insemination-IUI is a very simple treatment for infertility involving washed sperm to be placed directly into the uterus using a small catheter. Decreased sperm mobility or low sperm count is the main reasons for IUI in males, in females, cervical mucus or hostility and immunological problems are suggested to have IUI. However, women who have endometriosis or diseases in the fallopian tubes or have had pelvic infections are recommended to not have IUI. During the time of ovulation, the sperms prepared are inserted in the uterus of the woman, aiming it to reach the egg. Washing of the sperm increases the chances of pregnancy.  Sometimes to further increase the chances pregnancy, two inseminations are done. This procedure is very safe, painless, fast and simple.

First, the cervix is cleaned thoroughly by a culture medium after the visualization of the vagina through the insertion of the speculum, and then by using a catheter, the prepared sperm is injected. Patients are usually advised to have some rest after this procedure. This procedure is quite economical in price and not invasive but pregnancy rates are less than IVF although success measure may tend to reach up by 20% if the process is repeated every month.
