Blastocyst Culture :
There has been increased rate of pregnancies recorded when the embryo was transferred at the blastocyst stage. In recent advances that have taken place n the field of fertility issues, the demand for increased pregnancy rate has been the desired factor among the infertile couples so that they only have to go through this process only once and they can obtain the best results possible. Usually, the embryos get transferred to the uterus after two to three days after the manual IVF is done in the laboratory. But now with recent advances in this field, the embryo can be grown in laboratories with high precautions till five days (till which it gains the blastocyst stage) and then can be transferred to the uterus. The concept of this late transferring than traditionally transferring it is very simple, they let plant only the best embryos in the uterus i.e. till the time the time the embryo reaches the blastocyst stage it contains about 50-200 cells. Moreover is has crossed its basic growth and division stages that create high chances of pregnancy after implanting it to the uterus.
Blastocyst culture has helped the embryologists to develop and increase the quality of embryo which can increase the chances of pregnancy when transferred in the womb. It is opted by many infertile couples who have had many IVF failures. This technology has allowed careful monitoring of the embryo in the laboratory till it reaches the blastocyst stage and hence it has less number of embryos transferred than in the conventional IVF technique. Therefore it offers less risk of multiple pregnancies too.
